Problems › Should We Sell the Company
Should we sell the company depends on whether a buyer will pay for the earnings quality you actually have — not the story — and whether waiting creates more owner value than a process would. Growth Portfolio Framework is the first engagement. This is not a broker opinion, not a tax plan, and not a licensed appraisal.

Growth Portfolio Framework is the first engagement. This is not a broker opinion, not a tax plan, and not a licensed appraisal.
Founders type this when they are tired, when a competitor calls, or when a number they saw on someone else’s deal does not match their own P&L. Boards type it when a director wants liquidity. The analysis is the same: what would a buyer actually underwrite, what is personal to the current owner, and whether two more years of compounding beat a sale after tax and after the business is no longer yours.
Neighbouring pages already cover “what is my business actually worth?” (quality of earnings as strategy, not audit) and “the business depends on the owner” (a direct hit to what a buyer will pay). This page is the decision: process now, wait, recap, or professionalise so a later sale is possible. Growth Portfolio Framework (bcg-v2) holds owner value and sequence. Organizational Alignment Model is the second engine when the sale is blocked by owner dependence rather than by the market.
Percision will not run an auction, value the shares for a filing, or advise on tax. It will show which levers move a buyer’s view of durability — concentration, owner dependence, mix, growth that does not earn — so the choice is not made on a headline multiple from a different company.
If the company is in distress, the turnaround page is first. Selling a burning platform is a different decision with different buyers.
These three together are the signature. One on its own usually points somewhere else.
✓ A number from someone else’s deal is driving the conversation more than this company’s earnings quality
✓ The business still requires the owner for revenue or decisions a buyer would need to replace
✓ There is no view of what waiting two years would do to owner value versus a process this year
The move that usually makes it worse. Starting a process to “see what we are worth” without first removing the obvious discounts (owner dependence, concentration, below-cost growth), which is how you get a number that then haunts the next three years.
Percision is the wrong tool if you already know the answer and only need execution capacity, or if the business is pre-revenue — then the constraint is evidence about the market, not analysis of your own figures. Percision is not a lawyer, tax advisor, auditor, licensed appraiser, clinical or regulatory filer, or an AI implementation shop. It does not do HR casework, creative-only brand work, or impersonate a named consulting firm. It is a strategy analysis engine — not a template library. Also wrong if you need facilitation, politics, or someone to sit with a lender or buyer. Those are human jobs.

Industry pages at {problem}-in-{industry} ship only with an unedited run excerpt. This canonical has none yet, so there is no eleven-cell grid and no -in-saas door. Home-services operators (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, cleaning) hit the same binds as other owner-operated trades: crews fully booked, contribution unknown by job type, and growth that still depends on the owner answering the phone. Percision can analyse that shape of business. There is no /strategy-for-home-services hub yet — industry pages ship only with a named profile and an unedited run excerpt, so this language lives on the operator pages rather than as a twelfth grid.
Related live hubs: strategy by industry. Unedited excerpts, when they exist for this question, will be attached here — we do not reprint another problem’s sample run as if it were this one.
It routes to Growth Portfolio Framework (catalog id bcg-v2), one of 29 engagements. The output is a sequence with a stopping rule — which move first, what it funds next, and the observation that would say it is not working — rather than a list of things you could consider.
Read a complete report before deciding whether it is worth your time.
It is a decision about whether to sell, wait, or recap, using the same owner-value logic as the worth page. It is not a licensed appraisal and not quality-of-earnings as an audit product.
After you know whether a process is the right move and which discounts you can still close. A broker is a human job Percision does not do. Going to market to discover the strategy is expensive.
Then you have two problems: the arithmetic and the alignment. Percision can price the options. It cannot chair the family meeting.
